Women's Support Group
The Women's Support Group at ETCADA meets every Thursday night at the Council from 5:30-6:30 pm. This free and confidential group is staffed by a trained facilitator, Maureen Walston, who has been involved in the field of addiction recovery for over 25 years. Any woman who has been affected directly or indirectly by substance abuse is invited to attend.
What happens in Women's Group? Women in the group enjoy a time of sharing and learning. They increase their knowledge about the effects of substance abuse on the entire family. They learn strategies to help relieve stress, gain important information, and acquire many new friends. Some of the topics they discuss are: co-dependency, dealing with feelings such as anger or fear, healthy ways to communicate with loved ones, and paths to better relationships.
If someone you know seems to have a problem with drugs or alcohol, Women's Group is a great place to come for support and understanding. So many people have wrong ideas or attitudes about addiction and recovery, so learning a better way to deal with this complicated issue is the best thing you could do for yourself! No matter how long or how severe the problem seems to be, there is always help and hope for anyone who makes the effort to gain understanding about the signs and effects of addiction.
Be active, get involved. Attend Women's Group. You will be glad you did.
